MKA earbuds hero render in three colourways

One form, tested against three colourways and a hard light.

Overview

A self-initiated product study: a set of wireless earbuds designed from scratch in Fusion 360 and rendered in Cinema 4D with Octane. The goal was less "make a nice render" than "find out whether the form survives scrutiny".

The challenge

Earbuds are small, symmetrical and almost entirely curvature, there is no detail to hide behind. Any flaw in the surface continuity shows up immediately as a broken highlight, and the shape has to stay readable at the size it actually appears in a product listing.

The approach

Modelled as proper parametric hard-surface geometry rather than sculpted, so the transitions between shells are real fillets and the highlights run clean. I then pushed the same model through three colourways and a set of studio conditions, a soft neutral set, a high-contrast tricolour, and a noise study, because a form that only works under one lighting setup is not resolved.

Colourways

The same geometry under three finishes.

Detail studies

Surface continuity checked at close range, where curvature errors surface first.

Noise study

A rougher pass, testing how the form reads with surface texture and grain.

The result

A complete product set: hero renders, colourway variants and detail studies, all from a single model.
